We have really hit it off. Being in a rush, I decided to go in my wheelchair, without the leg braces I usually wear. I am a paraplegic, paralyzed from just above my waist down to my feet. I have been a paraplegic since I was a little girl. My legs are very thin and flaccid, but I still think of myself as attractive, even sexy. My ample breasts are my best feature so I like to show them off a little with a tight blouse. About a year ago I started wearing long leg braces and using crutches to maneuver around the building. From there they go down to my ankles where I can attach any number of shoes I like to wear.

Impact, a blow to the head, a fall in which the head hits the ground can cause a fracture or a sudden deformation of the skull without a fracture. In either case, mechanical forces transmitted to the underlying brain, compress or lacerate its surface and cause ripples of shock waves that travel through it and injure parts remote from the impact.

The tentorium holds the brainstem and cerebellum tight in the posterior fossa. These structures do not move.

Have there been challenges post injury for your traumatic brain injury employment? In a recent interaction about this topic with someone in a Facebook group, I was reminded of some very raw feelings I had after my TBI.

Photo Credit to A. Bradley, my husband of three years, was in an accident. He was riding his motorcycle on a country road. His crotch rocket hit gravel and he went down at high-speed. My stomach was in knots as a friend drove me the hospital. I was not allowed to see my husband when I arrived at the hospital because he was literally out of his mind. At the scene of the accident Brad was having seizures and fighting the paramedics. They sedated him for the helicopter ride to the hospital.

After being admitted he broke the restraints that held him to the hospital bed and was now wearing heavy-duty cuffs. Bradley was wearing a motorcycle helmet and armored clothing. He did not break a single bone in his body but he rattled his brain around inside his skull, bruising and tearing sensitive tissue. Without his helmet, I have no doubts he would be dead or worse. Brad was heavily sedated for a few days and upon awakening he was not the man he was before.

Print Diagnosis Traumatic brain injuries are usually emergencies and consequences can worsen rapidly without treatment. Doctors usually need to assess the situation quickly. Glasgow Coma Scale This point test helps a doctor or other emergency medical personnel assess the initial severity of a brain injury by checking a person’s ability to follow directions and move their eyes and limbs. The coherence of speech also provides important clues. Abilities are scored from three to 15 in the Glasgow Coma Scale.

Higher scores mean less severe injuries. Information about the injury and symptoms If you saw someone sustain an injury or arrived immediately after an injury, you may be able to provide medical personnel with information that’s useful in assessing the injured person’s condition. Answers to the following questions may be beneficial in judging the severity of injury: How did the injury occur?

Did the person lose consciousness? How long was the person unconscious? Did you observe any other changes in alertness, speaking, coordination or other signs of injury? Where was the head or other parts of the body struck?

And, the manner Veterans Benefits Administration interprets the clinical findings of the exams is inadequate to appropriately compensate veterans. That is basically the gist of it to this point. I plan to write more in a week or so once I have more time to digest the material.

Use The IG Report As Evidence But, based on what I read here, I suggest all veterans fighting for a fair rating to submit this report as evidence against the presumption of regularity that your exam was conducted by a clinician who was not adequately trained.
